Welcome to Mary's world of words!

Mary, born in Australia to Maltese parents who emigrated after WWII, has been journaling since the age of sixteen.  She fills blank pages with her philosophies, experiences, heartbreak and joy brining every leaf of paper back to life. Mary relishes these journals from back then and one day hopes to put them into a book, in its own right. Her diverse background influences her storytelling, aiming to offer readers transformative journeys that blend reality and imagination, fostering reflection and restoration, inspiring renewed perspective and vision.

A pivotal moment in Mary's life was the tragic suicide of her mother at age 43, an event which profoundly altered her worldview. At 25, it was the day that changed Mary's life, for the rest of her life. It led her to seek healing in many different ways, through various tools and varying modalities. Mary had to redefine her beliefs, ideas and philosophies about life, death, about herself and about the world. "I didn't know where mum ended and I started," is a theme Mary explores often in her book Liberation at Last, a book spawned from the depths of despair, yet brimming with hope.

Mary perceives motherhood as the greatest gift in life. "Being a mother stands as my greatest achievement. The moment my first-born entered the world in Malta, I discovered a depth of love I never knew I possessed. With the birth of my second son, in Edinburgh, that love not only doubled but tripled, filling my heart and my life with immeasurable joy and a deep sense of purpose."

In 2017, whilst spending some time with family back in  beautiful Malta and teaching a Year 4 class in a school in Valletta,  Mary discovered a passion for writing poetry which truly surprised her. Since then, she's published four poetry books which express her experiences, beliefs and imagination.  A fifth poetry book, Life's Rhythm 'N' Beat, shall be added to the others shortly. It is a concoction of the sad and the happy, the high and low, the black and the white and everything else in between.

Mary is a fully qualified British Wheel of Yoga, yoga and meditation practitioner and teacher. Her extensive experience includes running yoga and meditation and holistic healing sessions  in primary, secondary, and SEN schools, as well as Sixth Forms. She presently provides 1:1 Holistic Therapy sessions, utilising various tools and techniques from different yoga traditions designed to help restore and renew well-being.

She now lives in South Oxfordshire. Mary has traded her highly fulfilling, yet stressful long-standing school teaching career for writing philosophical fiction and poetry in her room with a view, overlooking the river Thames. Yet, the quest for well-being through yoga, meditation and other skills and techniques continues for herself and for all others  who seek it, as does the aspiration to inpire through her words, whether written or spoken - whether in poetry or in prose.
